When you are laid off, the contractor should give you your last paycheck and a termination slip at the time of your layoff.

Local 11 is on a daybook system. If you would like to be eligible to take a job, you must make yourself available for that day by signing the daybook online or in person before 8 a.m.

Laid Off: Immediate Next Steps

You will need to take your termination slip to the dispatch hall.

At the Dispatch Hall, complete an out of work card and turn in, with your termination slip, to a dispatch clerical. Keep a copy of your forms for your records.

If it is Roll Call/Re-Sign Week (The 10th-16th of every month), always sign Rollcall when out of Workbook or you will be removed from the list. Complete a Roll Call Card. Keep a copy for your records.

You will be assigned a number on the Out of Workbook determined by the date and time stamp on your Out of Work Card.

You may open a claim with unemployment while you are on the Out of Workbook. Contact our Health & Pension Trust for your supplemental unemployment benefits.

GETTING YOUR NEXT JOB

Dispatch opens at 7:30am and starts at 8:30am.

Local 11 is on a Daybook system. To sign the Daybook in person you must sign the clipboard at the Dispatch Counter before 8am; print your last name and your social security number. 

Daybook signing on our website can be done as early as 12:01am and is recommended you try as early as possible. Be sure to follow all of the prompts. Enter the district you will be present in when it asks what district you will be at for dispatch.

The day book is posted in each hall. Please check it to make sure you are in proper order and marked at the correct dispatch hall. If there is an error please bring it to the attention of the Dispatch Clerical prior to 8:30am.

If you are an Inside Journeyman or Residential Wireman, you will be dispatched in person at the Dispatch Hall Window. Your number and name will be called three times over the P.A. system. If you do not respond you will be passed. Have all your certifications that are required for the job you want with you when you come to the Dispatch Window (For example: Current original dues receipt, valid driver’s license, California state certification, or any other certifications that may be required). You can check job call requirements online prior to coming to Dispatch.

For all other classifications, you will be called at the phone number you put on your Out of Work Card. If you do not answer you will be passed.

After you have accepted the job call you will be given a Dispatch Slip. Your new employer’s contact information, and any instructions will be on your dispatch slip.
