Intelligent Transportation Report — December 2023

Conduit isn’t ‘PIPE’. Laborers and other crafts often refer to electrical conduit on transportation projects as ‘PIPE.’ Electrical work done by someone other than an electrical worker jeopardizes our careers and the future of our industry. It’s crucial to firmly convey throughout the trades that electrical work should solely be performed by trained electrical professionals. Whether it’s a state highway, city street, airport runway, bridge or tunnel, transportation projects are going on everywhere. The current workload combined with upcoming projects promise a lot of opportunity for IBEW workers. I’m excited to announce that we’ve begun the process of branding the ITS unit with a new, transportation-specific logo. Shirts and other related items will soon be accessible.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 23rd at 5 p.m. – Electrical Training Institute, Commerce
