Unit 14 Civil Service Report – July 2022

Sisters and Brothers,

The following are the current updates for contract negotiations.

LA City:

Negotiations for successor MOU 2 and MOU 13 agreements will now begin in August in an attempt to get them completed before the end of the current contracts which expire at the end of December. Please send me your proposals as soon as possible to have your voice heard! Negotiations for a successor MOU 35 Hiring Hall agreement are progressing. The City has our latest proposal.

LAUSD:

We continue to negotiate a successor to our Unit E agreement. The Building Trades held a District-wide Zoom meeting to explain how the implementation of a new retiree health plan is delaying progress but could ultimately provide us with the leverage we need to achieve the gains we desire. Continued patience is the key.

LA County:

MOU 411 and 412 negotiations are ongoing and progressing slowly. The Unions United campaign was effective, and we are confident that we will get a wage package worthy of accepting. We are also currently negotiating a successor to the benefits agreement along with our partners at the Coalition of County Unions. Updates to follow.

LACCD:

We are seeking to amend the MOU to allow for our members to teach at Los Angeles Trade Tech University without giving up hours from their normal work assignments.

For further information, please attend our monthly Unit 14 meetings which take place on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. Additionally, please feel free to contact me.

Fraternally,
