President’s Message – December 2023

Institutions are Lasting

Brothers and Sisters,

I’ve been a proud IBEW 11 member for 43 years. I’ve been in and out of leadership positions for the past 33 years. I’ve seen a lot of change in those years. Technology, leadership, rules and regulations, elected politicians, COVID and more. But the one thing that remains the same is the IBEW. The organization.

During my tenure, the IBEW International has had five different Presidents. During my time, our own IBEW 11 has had six different Business Managers. But we have remained a political powerhouse throughout, and in fact, have grown our reputation with each successive leader.

And that is because we have built something solid, something great, something lasting. IBEW strong!

I am here to tell you that the new leadership of IBEW 11 is experienced. Collectively, we have over 100 years with this organization under our belt. You can rest assured that we will be here during this transition, just like we have with every other leadership transition. The ship is steady.

Robert Corona has over 30 years of experience in the IBEW. He has been involved at every level of our organization and is involved in countless commissions, workshops, committees and lobbying efforts. His transition to Business Manager will reap many rewards for our membership.

As members, you can rest assured that IBEW 11 will only continue to grow stronger because of you, our members. We have the best, most experienced membership and staff of any local union in California. I believe in us.
