District 1 North Report — January 2022

Brothers and Sisters, I hope this finds you and your family well. 

Work seems to be picking up with the start of the new year.  2022 should see the start of a few projects in Hollywood. The Crossroads Hollywood, near Sunset and Highland, will have two towers.  This will be a mix of commercial, residential, and some studios.  Burroughs Middle School should pick up this year with Taft and Advanced Cable Solutions being awarded the work and there are a few other smaller LAUSD projects ongoing.

 Prop HHH work continues to be active in the area. These are a mix of residential and some inside projects. Work continues at the hospitals in the area. Kaiser on Sunset continues to keep a few projects moving and Hollywood Presbyterian is ongoing, but a wind-down is coming. Another big thank you to our steward, Gus Marino, on the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital project.

Let’s keep looking out for each other on the job. With newer apprentices starting their careers, we have more members who need to learn safe work practices. 

With the holiday spike in COVID, please be extra cautious and stay masked. Remember, vaccines are still readily available, and they seem to make a COVID infection less severe.
