District 1 North Report — September 2022

Greetings from District One North. I hope this report finds you and your families well.

A reminder about meetings. D1 unit meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. in Commerce. The D1 welfare committee meets the last Tuesday of each month in Commerce at 5 p.m. The meetings are in-person only. I hope to see you there.

The General Meeting is the third Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. It is broadcast live from Pasadena to the District Offices. You can attend at the Pasadena office or any district office. Find a location close to home or the job and join us.

Another reminder: the D1 Welfare Committee still has a limited number of medallions available for purchase at $40 each. Contact me, Shomari Davis, or the D1 Welfare Committee members Felipe Torres, Cesar Reyes, Mike Valdes or Amir Ali to get yours before they are gone. Please remember that proceeds from the sales fund our Welfare Committee, helping Brothers and Sisters in need. The Welfare Committee will be working on new items to produce. If you have suggestions, please attend a meeting to contact a committee member.

The high temperatures are refusing to leave. Remember to stay hydrated and watch out for your Brothers and Sisters who might not be drinking enough. Drink water on a regular basis. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Heat-related illness can be deadly.

We are continuing to see LAUSD work, Prop HHH, and some mixed use coming to the D1N area. I am still watching for the buildings 2-4 along Sunset in Hollywood to get approved and started. There will be building at LA City College in the near future, but no contractor has been awarded the project .
