Sound & Communications Report – February 2022

We are seeing a seasonal slowdown in our work, and, at this writing, we see less than 4% of our membership on the “Out of Work” books. SoFi Stadium is slowing down, Intuit Arena has broken ground, LAX continues to build and rebuild, and LAUSD is releasing more work. The Los Angeles Community College system is steadily releasing more work and design work has started for the Olympics.

The future looks great for Sound & Communications work in Los Angeles County. Our membership continues to grow with Unit 9 now reaching over 950 Brothers and Sisters.

I would like to take this time to remind our members that the current contract and wage sheet are on our website. If you have a question regarding anything your contractor requests of you, feel free to look at the contract or call me. If you wait until after you have received your termination, the chances of getting things made right diminish greatly.

I was saddened to learn that, just as in the political world, we have members who will knowingly misinform our membership trying to cause unrest. The door is open to all to participate in the functions of our great union, but understand, we work on the Local 11 agenda, not the agenda of splinter groups. Be mindful of the information that you choose to believe. Misinformation can be dangerous.

As always, it is my honor and privilege to serve the membership of Local 11, Unit 9.
