Sound & Communications Report – January 2022
With age comes the reality that nothing stays the same. We started the year moving our Unit 9 meeting location to the Pasadena Office complex. With the ETI trying to ramp up, there seems to be less room for us. We will utilize the new IBEW 11 LIVE facilities on the 2nd floor. We are currently gearing up to broadcast the general meetings to the district offices from this location. This will enable the membership to participate in the general meeting from the district office closest to their home, allowing more of our membership to participate.
Our work has yet to slow down. LAX projects continue to need more of our members. SoFi Stadium is gearing up for the upcoming Super Bowl, the Intuit Dome (the Clippers Arena) has broken ground and several of the projects funded through the federal government are getting underway. The projects continue to materialize as I spend hours each day in pre-job conferences to ensure that all of the work in our scope is performed by Local 11 Sound & Comm members.
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as well as federal, state, county and city projects are now on the drawing boards. The Southern California and Los Angeles areas continue to grow with the help of Local 11. Keep your certifications current, especially the OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certs that our contractors are requiring on a regular basis.
Remember, our unit meetings are the second Saturday of each month. The new location for our meetings is 297 North Marengo Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101, 2nd Floor, Local 11 Live room. Stay tuned for announcements regarding whether these meetings will be live and in-person or on Zoom.
