As the Holidays quickly approach, the job calls are slowing down as usual, but only slightly. With around 300 Journeyman Wireman on the book, I’d say we’re still in pretty good job shape.
The Hyperion Plant is back up and running thanks to the IBEW members and the contractors they work for. Royal, at the LAX RS-X project, just put a few calls in for overtime, and the Alaskan Airlines Project is starting to gain traction.
To the far west, A-1 put in a couple of calls for JW and apprentices. Gary Tomlin and I have been helping at the South Bay Hall with dispatching, but now with the addition of a fulltime clerical employee, you will be seeing us out in the field as aggressively as before.
One of my first stops will be to LACMA to see how the large project is going. Sasco is out there, and I expect to see calls for that job after the first of the year. Also keep your eyes open for the Lumens West project in West L.A. Unison has that job with about 20 members, but as the finish steel comes to a conclusion, I expect to see calls there too.
As a reminder, our ability to track jobs is through dispatch or pre-job meetings. If you haven’t seen your agent in a while, please reach out to us. We may not know the job you’re on even exists.
Stay safe, and as always, it’s an honor and a pleasure to serve the members of IBEW Local 11.
