District 6 Report — April 2021
There is lots of future work in the pipeline for our District 6 members.
We’re currently working with the city of El Monte to adopt the new EVITP policy. This will ensure that our IBEW/NECA contractors and members will be working on EV infrastructure work that the city goes out to bid on and that it will require EVITP policy. Currently there is no equivalent program available.
In West Covina, we have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreement with Alliance Building Solutions, which is an energy services company. ABS is working with the city to update their HVAC/electrical, add solar, battery storage and electrical vehicle infrastructure work. Once it is approved by the City Council, our IBEW contractor/members will be working on these projects.
In the Pomona Unified School District, Baker Electric has a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with American Building Maintenance (ABM), and Forefront Power has a MSA with CSI electric. ABM’s project will consist of HVAC/energy efficiency work in five or six school buildings. For France, projects will consist of solar shade canopied parking structures in the different campuses as well as battery storage and electrical vehicle charging infrastructure. I will keep our members informed on these projects once they are approved by the board of trustees and are online.
The City of La Puente and Local 11 have agreed to a PLA and workforce standards in the Clean Power Alliance (CPA), California’s new locally-operated electricity provider for communities across LA and Ventura Counties. The developer is Pivot Energy and the project is in La Puente. The project includes community solar shade canopies and/or ground mounted solar capability and 250 kW rooftop solar and 250 kW/464 kW H approximate as well as battery storage backup power capability and EV infrastructure. Morrow-Meadows is the prime contractor. The project is currently going through the design and permitting processes.
I’ll keep our you informed once these projects are online.
