COVID-19 Update: Mandated Job Site Screenings

As evident by the recent spike in Covid-19 cases nationwide, this pandemic is still a very real threat, especially for high-risk individuals.

In an effort to provide you the safest possible conditions, Local 11 is mandated by the state of California to screen visitors for symptoms of Covid-19 before entering IBEW Local 11 facilities. Starting July 20, 2020 you’ll be asked to answer a couple of questions about possible symptoms and have a non-contact body temperature check. Please plan to wear a facemask that provides coverage over your nose and mouth at all times inside any of the IBEW Local 11 buildings.

I have made it a point to visit as many job sites as I can for several reasons. The first, is to check on the health and safety of the membership. The second is to distribute IBEW Local 11 facemasks.

It has been common to hear that we should practice “social distancing” to avoid contact with the Coronavirus. I am suggesting we practice “physical distancing” but stay socially active. Depression, anxiety, and stress can be increased during these times, so let’s stay connected with our family, friends, and/or neighbors. Thank you for helping us keep IBEW members and staff safe.

Fraternally,
Joel Barton
